‘Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.' ~ Marianne Williamson
Many of the things standing in our way of visualizing our dreams as reality can ultimately be traced back to our childhood. I love the sentence in Marianne's quote: "We are all meant to shine, as children do." When the heck did we turn that light out?? [Sheesh...probably the same day someone told us about gravity!]
You know we all have those moments of doubt and uncertainty. They can rock your world and pull the rug right out from under you sometimes. We cannot get stuck there, however. What I am learning in my journey is to figure out what I am good at! I had all my life tried to fix my weaknesses. How I wasn't measuring up. I asked myself, 'How's that workin' for ya?' So, I decided I needed to try something different, change the way I was looking at it. I decided to play to my strengths, no matter what the circumstances, no matter which arena.
I am slowly changing my default setting of what's wrong with me, my weaknesses – what I'm NOT good at – and leaning into what I AM GOOD at. [Sidebar: Let me be clear here, this took awareness time and some real work on my part! My default setting was stuck! Stuck on looking at what's wrong with me, not what's right!] Once I figured this out, a rather amazing thing started to happen when I played to my strengths – I developed leverage. And once you really own that, an even more extrodinary thing happens– you begin to unveil what your unique contribution to the world is. The conundrum fades.
I remember the moment it happened. I said to myself, "That’s it, Lucia. This is why you are here. Only you can do that. This is why you live, and what you are meant to do. You will spend your life doing that, delivering that contribution to the world." And the best thing about knowing what your unique contribution to the world is – you won't want to do anything else. Ever again. Every day is about DELIVERING THAT UNIQUE CONTRIBUTION TO THE WORLD. And once you get about doing that, the dream starts to unfold. The path becomes real. Your dreams are manifesting. And yes, just like that.
Like Marianne says above, "We were born to make manifest the glory of God [universe] that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone."
The beauty is you won't have to figure it out on your own!
